Designer Pick of the Day

Designer Pick of the Day - Turned Floor Lamp

Believe it or not this is a floor lamp...gorgeous, and so much fun for a fresh happy room.  We will definitely keep this piece in mind for our "Designer Rooms of the Week" blog series.  What do you think of this lamp?

This "pine cone" lamp consists of thin transparent overlapping veneer that is layered to shape this unique design. This type of lamp, with itsorganic sleek look, makes it easy to blend in with any style.  I love it because it is so warm and inviting.

Antoinette's Pick of the Day

Designer Pick of the Day

Antoinette is continuing her designer selections for this week, and her second Pick of the Day is a:

Sculpted Wood Chair

This beautiful sculpted chair was made from wood salvaged from a Park Avenue (New York City) water tower. The various colorations in the wood add a "visual" texture to it, but yet the chair itself is smooth to the touch. Comfort was designed within the chair by sculpting a deeper "cove" to the seating area.

What could be more fun than reading a book in this chair while relaxing?? I love the dramatic bulky end of the chair that leads up to a smaller sleeker top.

An Alcove Tub!

My Junior Designer, Antoinette, selected this amazing tub as her "Pick of the Day."

Antoinette is originally from South Africa, and she loves contemporary styles.  She used to be very traditional in her taste, but about 3 years ago, while attending Interior Design School, her tastes began to change.  Here are here thoughts about her Designer Pick of the Day:

This modern tub caught my eye and Ijust love it - I decided to make it my pick of the week. This is not your everyday bathtub, and with its unusually attractive shape and sleek lines you can add a contemporary / modern look to any bathroom. I think the grey, unfinished, rough cement floor is perfect against the neutral, smooth tub - it definitely adds contrast to the room.
It is simply elegant.

Book Recommendation of the Day

Book of the Day

My senior interior designer, Kimberly, introduced me to this amazing book...

Just look at the book cover...so many layers of color and style...you could stare at this one photo for 10 minutes and keep finding new surprises.  Her work is refreshing and fun.
